Solar Rx is an everyday moisturizing cosmetic sunblock for the face, neck and hands. Solar Rx is not designed to be used for going to the beach, sun bathing, sports or water activities. The moisturizing properties and cosmetically clear sunblock make it ideal for everyday use as a foundation for makeup or alone. Solar Rx was designed to offer the maximum physical protection from UVA and SPF 30 for UVB burning rays without using a chemical sunscreen. As a cosmetic UV protection, it goes on clear with no heavy oily feeling or white cast. Solar Rx can be applied once a day for under makeup with minimal direct sun exposure. For direct sun exposure, we recommend reapplying at least every two hours on the face neck and hands. Tropical and high intensity sun conditions require even more frequent application. UV index ratings of 8 and above for average skin can require application as much as every 15 minutes as tested using a UV meter. This is not a product for sun bathing, extreme hot weather sports or swimming.
Keys Solar Rx is featured on the Environmental Working Group Skin Deep Report as the safest sunscreen on the market. Keys Solar Rx was featured as the most effective non-waterproof category sunblock for UVA and UVB in the Consumer Reports July 2007 issue. It is rare to find a product that is both safe to use and effective.
Keys Solar Rx carries a UVB (UV Burning) rating of SPF 30+ and a UVA (UV Aging) of four stars using the EU rating system. It is important to note that 90% of all visible skin aging comes from UVA. Be very careful of sunscreens with high SPF numbers that do not rate their UVA protection. High SPF rated chemical sunscreens will prevent burning, but often do little to provide UVA protection.
Solar Rx is both moisturizer and sunblock. It combines the healing soothing properties of our Luminos Moisturizer and adds a 18.5% concentration of uncoated nano-zinc oxide to provide a physical UVA and UVB blocking to protect against UV triggered Melanoma and Skin Cancer. Our nano-zinc oxide (ZnO) is uncoated to provide healing therapies associated with zinc oxide. The uncoated zinc has also proven to be anti-bacterial and antimicrobial and can reduce redness, rosacea, age spots and melasma. Solar Rx carries a EWG Skin Deep Rating of 0 (0 to 10 scale where 0 is best).

I have been wearing daily sunscreen for 20 years because of skin cancer on my face. This is absolutely the best of what seems like hundreds of physical sunblock products I have tried over the years. It's a great base to add mineral makeup to for a tinted moisturizer and doesn't dry out your skin.

I love the smell, love the consistency and loved the ingredients -- however -- I burned so quickly using this sunblock that it was useless for me. I'm very fair and I was on the beach in South Carolina in May -- and I slathered it on -- it lasted maybe 20 min before I started burning. I went through a whole can in 4 days and still got badly burned in places like my shoulders where it wasn't just perspiration washing it off and I wasn't in the water swimming.) It's all well and good to have great UVA/UVB ratings from the EWG -- but it doesn't help unless there are guidelines for how often you need to reapply depending on your skin tone. I ended up having to buy Neutrogena sunscreen just to make sure I didn't burn anymore -- after all, what's the point of using natural sunscreen if you damage your skin by burning it? I'm sure it's a good product for some -- but I think the amount you need to use (a lot!) and the frequency that you have to keep applying it (often if you're fair like me) that it just doesn't make sense, particularly financially (which let's be honest, we all have to pay attention to nowadays). I'm really disappointed it didn't work as well as I wanted it to.
Pure Complexions: Please note Solar Rx is designed as a cosmetic sunscreen (everyday protection from uv radiation [especially UVA radiation(UV Aging)]) [face, neck, and hands]. Cosmetic sunscreens are not water/perspiration resistant. Thus are not optimal for hot beach activities. A water resistant sunscreen is probably needed for very fair individuals in these conditions.

I just love this! Smells great,very smooth.My skin is very sensitive (mild rosacea) and is hard to find anything that would help.Looks like i got solution....

I love this sun block. I just got back from Hawaii and I didn't pre-tan (from Alaska) I just lathered up with this and I actually tanned and didn't burn (that's a first for my Irish self). And it didn't make my sensitive face break out.

I've been looking for a non-greasy, non-whitening, chemical-free sunscreen for a LONG time and I finally found it all in Solar Rx...I LOVE IT!! The only other sunscrean that almost met all these requirements was Devita's sun protection lotion; but it was TOO too moisterizing. Not to say that Solar Rx isn't moisturinzing, it IS, it's just not TOO moisturizing.
I'm also noticing the therapeutic benefits of the zinc right away, my skin feels so smooth. Also, the subtle natural scent is really nice. :-)

Works well as a sunscreen and as a moisturizer. It stays put, doesn't get into my eyes. The airless pump makes for a nice texture, not too heavy and not too "sunscreeny"; the sample size comes out heavier, lacking the pump. The smell is spicy (in the sense of a spice cabinet in a kitchen) and took a little bit of getting used to. It certainly doesn't have that awful sunscreen smell about it, though.
