I have moderate or severe acne/rosacea, what do you recommend?
We've found that acne prone skin is the boldest example of sensitive skin there is. Most prescription and OTC acne remedies contain chemical irritants that further exacerbate and inflame this condition. Broken skin can easily absorb these chemicals, allowing them to enter the blood stream. One of the worst offenders are parabens and other petrochemicals. What do you recommend for peri-oral outbreaks (bumps that consistently occur on or around the mouth) aka Perioral Dermatitis? We have found that peri-oral dermatitis is usually caused by toxic oral care products (i.e. things you use in/on or around your mouth that you do not usually swallow). The mucus membranes in your mouth can easily and quickly absorb toxins from products that you put in your mouth (even if it is only for a minute or two). The most common culprits are toxic chewing gum and candy (filled with artificial sweeteners, food coloring and/or preservatives) and toxic toothpaste (especially anti-tartar and fluorinated types). In these cases, we recommend switching to an all-natural toothpaste like Miessence and avoiding conventional toxic chewing gum and or candy. Once you eliminate the toxic agent(s), most of our clients see complete relief. To quickly heal the bumps, try using Oil-Free Organic Face Polish by Trillium Organics. Apply a thin layer of polish on the affected area and let sit for ~2 minutes - then wash off. Use face polish 1x/day. Note: Try to avoid picking at the bumps - it will only make them irritated (thus may make the salt polish sting).
