Iron Tests

Iron Testing Should Include 3 Tests:

  1. Total Iron Binding Capacity (TIBC): > 400 = high likelihood of iron deficiency.
  2. Ferritin: < 40 = iron deficiency.
  3. Complete Blood Count (CBC)
    • Includes: Mean Corpuscular Volume (MCV): A MCV less than 90, indicates RBC are too small = iron deficiency.
