In May 2012, BioMatrix replaced the phosphorylated serine product Seriphos with Enerphos, a product from the original Seriphos creator, T.E Neesby.
Enerphos is to be used in the exact same dosages as Seriphos so there is no need to change any patient instructions or protocols.
Enerphos is a second generation form of the original Seriphos, which was manufactured from 1993 until late 2010. Enerphos, like Seriphos, contains phosphate esters of serine and ethanolamine present as calcium magnesium salts. The improvement made with Enerphos is that the phosphoserine component is made separately and re-precipitated to purify it. It is then added back to the ethanolamine phosphate during the final neutralization step. This results in a product with superior assimilation and efficacy.
Ethanolamine phosphate and phosphoserine are biologically active molecules found in the body. The commonly known health food Lecithin, derived from soy, contains some of these same phosphate esters which have been further combined with fats to form molecules called phospholipids. The body can use ethanolamine phosphate to form phospolipids known as Cephalins which are present in myelin that insulates the nerves. Phosphoserine likewise can be
converted to phosphatidylserine which is concentrated in highly metabolic tissues like brain, heart, kidney and liver. Both phosphate esters are good chelating agents for minerals such as calcium and magnesium enabling them to be effectively absorbed.
